Sit still? No thanks, I'd prefer to stand. Sit wi Sit still? No thanks, I'd prefer to stand. Sit with me? Sure thing, let me refill my coffee mug right quick and plop next to you. The first strikes me as burdensome, the second as invitational. Burden me? I feel shamed. Invite me? I feel cherished. Burden me? I am tempted to protect my independence. Invite me? I run into relationship. Maybe you can relate. Did you know? The Historic Church practices of "sitting" still before the LORD and "having quiet time" with the LORD engage our human desire for relationship. It's an overflow of God himself tenderly calling you and I into community with him. To sit with the LORD is not designed to be burdensome, but invitational. The Bible itself records Christ calling us to "come unto him," not to "sit still and listen up." If you're someone who has felt shamed into believing you should just "sit still" and "obey God" instead of feeling cherished by sitting with the LORD, I'd love to encourage you over a cup of coffee, zoom call, or phone call. We enjoyed worship with Restoration Anglican Churc We enjoyed worship with Restoration Anglican Church, soaked up special time with cousins, shamelessly devoured some #wisconsin custard, discovered a tree frog, and pressed reset over the last couple of days. I found the liturgical approach at Restoration very engaging and theologically rich. One of my favorite parts of the service was the ending when the congregation corporately cast their burdens on the cross followed by setting their week ahead on the cross as well. Moreover, I greatly enjoyed the sense of togetherness and equality invoked through congregation-wide involvement. #corporateworship #liturgy #theology #worship
